Make your own embellishment ~ CAGI #116

Good Morning Dreamerz..

This morning I want to share with you a pretty image from Nikki Burnette which you can grab right here Sydney ~ Grayscale.  The beauty of these pages is that they take the guesswork out of shading if you are new to coloring. The Digital image file comes with instructions along with 3 versions of the image to color Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced with each getting lighter from the previous version, thus allowing you the end user to add in my colors to create shading

So you may have noticed the Title of this Blog Post? It says CAGI #116, that means this card is for the Come and Get It Challenge Blog I am on the DT For and 116 is the challenge number.  This Challenge we were asked to
"Create our own Embellishment"
So after I had Sydney colored in with my Prismacolors I die cut her on an angle and matted her to the pink paper in the back on an angle, my thinking was that the angles and paper would draw you in. I then added lil rhinestones to the image and used my clear wink of stella (although it does not photograph well at all) on the strawberry and the white lacy parts of Sydney. I created the bow using Bow Dies from Jaded Blossom and the sentiment is from lawn fawn that I die cut and then cut apart.

I do hope you all will come on over to the Come and Get It Challenge Blog to enter your creations, we would love to see them

I would also like to extend my gratitude to Nikki Burnette for providing this stunning image for me to use in this challenge.

Have a great Day Dreamerz!!

I had received the Pier One catalog in the mail before Easter and I really thought the pictures were so pretty and I just knew I could transform them in some way to a project.  So I am going to show you all the pages I tok my elements from and at the end I will show you my completed project. Enjoy!!!

And now for the finished card:

Well can you spot in my finished card all the different pieces of the project from the recycled papers??

This was such a fun card to make and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.. Now to send it to one of my Earth loving, tree hugging friends..

Calgon and Unicorns??

Good Morning Dreamerz...

This morning I would like to share a really fun card with you all.  Some of you may be old enough to remember Calgon Bath Powder and for those that do not know what this is I will explain.  In the 70's and 80's Calgon bath powder used to run commercials and in most of them it showed a woman who was having a rough day, kids screaming, spilling coffee on her desk, burning dinner, getting a flat tire, you know just everyday life for a woman.  At the end of the commercial it always showed the woman in a luxurious bath filled high with bubbles and a serene look on her face.  The company's tag line was "Calgon take me away" I remember listening to women and often when they were having a bad day they would say "I need a Calgon moment"
This card is my "Calgon Moment"

Card Recipe:
Tiny Unicorn Digital Stamp from Sandra Caldwell
stamp uploaded to Cricut Design Space, sized and text added for print and cut
Unicorn colored in various colored Copic alcohol markers
iridescent stickles for horn
Fancy Frame Dies for purple and unicorn layers

Thanks for liking, looking and commenting Dreamerz..
So find a Unicorn and take a ride somewhere over the rainbow, and have your own "Calgon Moment.

Steampunk on a Sunday morning..

Good Sunday morning Dreamerz..

This morning I want to show you my colored image from the Nikki Burnette coloring book Spellbinding Images.  I have been dying to get into this book and add my own special flair with color to the images yet I have been intimidated by some of the gorgeous work done by others that I have seen in the fan groups.  So I decided to get my toes wet and chose one of the 3x4 inch pictures in the front of the book that were designed for you to try out your color scheme on. I must say that the added grayscale shading really takes the guesswork out of the coloring process.  I did use multiple colors on almost all of it to add more depth to the image. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to do coloring and have a more realistic look.

Card Recipe:
3x4 image from Spellbinding Images: A Grayscale Fantasy Coloring Book: Beginner's Edition (Volume 1)
Prismacolor Premier colored pencils blended with vaseline
Silver/Grey base layer die cut Wonky Stitch Die
Black layer die cut Mix it Up Dies
Gears cardstock covered in aluminum foil then black distress inked and die cut using Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets
Metal Key and Gear from stash

Thank you Dreamerz for liking, looking, and commenting on all my projects.
Until tomorrow, have a great day..

Good Morning Dreamerz..

Simple Orchids

Good Morning Dreamerz..

This morning I wanted to share with you all a very pretty all occasion card.  I am trying to get my "Card Stash" back up as I am always needing a card for one occasion or another.  This card is still following in the footsteps of my previous postings on using minimal amounts of color to create a card or project.
I really like the way this one turned out.  The picture does not do it justice!

Card Recipe
Digital stamp from Tiddly Inks (BTW this is free go grab it now!!) colored with a soft copic marker in a lavender shade.  Stems, leaves and pot colored in various shades of grey copic markers. once I was happy with the coloring I used my Fancy Frames Die to cut the layer.  Now this may not show up unless you actually click the image to get a close up of it, but take a look at the stitching on the layer.  It appears as if truly punched through to the black layer below right? Yet this is not the case, I took a black copic marker and on the backside I just went over the stitched edge.  I think it adds a nice extra touch.
Black Woodgrain cardstock from American Crafts die cut using My Favorite Things Stitched Wonky Die, wrapped in purple and white bakers twine I picked up from the dollar bin at my local Target.
Orchid layer adhered to top with foam pop dots and then finished off with a thin layer of Gloss Accents applied to just the Orchids to add a bit of sheen to them.

Wishing you a day that Sparkles..

Good Morning Dreamerz...

This morning I wanted to share a very fun card with you and keeping with my obvious obsession over the last week or so of using only 1 color as the main focus of my cards this one is no different..  Again this card really came to be on my weekly craft day with my Crafty BFF Heather Ferguson from
SuperFox Designs

Card Recipe
Unicorn from The Greeting Farm stamped and fussy cut by Heather for me, edged with a black copic marker. Silver Stickles applied to tail and mane along with Red Stickles for the Unicorn's horn. Blue copic marker for eyes.
Star Border from Across The Borders stamped in red then die cut using
Fancy Frames Dies to add a nice stitched edge.
Black layer die cut using American Crafts wood grain paper and My Favorite Things Stitched Wonky dies, again courtesy of Heather.
I took a strip of red cardstock from a previous project and cut it the width and stamped it using a sentiment from Magical Wishes
Silver cording applied on star border stamped layer.
Unicorn adhered using foam pop dots.

Hibiscus any occasion card

Good Morning Dreamers..

This morning I am bringing you a card that I think turned out rather pretty.  I am on this kick lately to keep the colors simple, yet with something eyecatching.

Card Recipe
I printed off a digital image of 3 Hibiscus Flowers then fussy cut close to the edge, colored the center flower in a couple shades of pink copic markers, the outer 2 flowers colored in grey copics. I then used pebbles chalks to apply a layer of pink to give a lil softer look to the center and the same technique applied to the grey flowers.  When I was happy with my colors I took a black copic and went all the way around the edge to frame the cut. Tiny dots of red stickles applied to the stamen to add just a hint of sparkle.
Wood Grain paper in white from American Crafts was die cut using My Favorite Things "Stitched Wonky Dies" courtesy of Heather Ferguson over at
I used the same color grey pebbles chalks to brush over the wood grain to add a shadow effect under the flowers and to really highlight the texture of the paper.
Silver cording applied in various wide circles to top of wood grain paper.
Finished off the card by using foam pop dots on the Hibiscus Flowers.

All That Glitters is not always Gold...

Good Morning Dreamerz.. Again!!

I just had to make one more huge post filled with lots of pictures. I have some pretty Ah-Mazing women in my life. They have been there for me thru some of my roughest times with boxes of tissues in hand, shoulders to cry on, and ears to hear my troubles.  They have also been a part of the happiest times in my life and I count my blessings each and everyday that when I think of a fond memory they are always a part of the thought that made the day!! So here is a post dedicated to some amazing friends..

So you might be thinking here is Mary giving over this blog post in honor of her friends yet the title says "All that glitters is not always gold" right?? Well sometimes it's Unicorn Farts!! I am sure you will get the idea as this post goes on in pictures.  So join me in taking a trip down the glitter filled highway!!

And lastly not a Unicorn at all but a tribute to the most beautiful woman that ever graced the earth and now graces the heavens.. She gave me the courage to fly, to fill my life with color, love and to realize I was not perfect, and that, that was o.k...

So thank you all my Unicorns for being a part of this Crazy, Stupid, Silly, and sometimes Weird life with me..

CAS Get Well Card

Good Morning Dreamerz...

This morning I am showing off my CAS Get Well Card.  For those that may not know CAS stands for Clean and Simple.  The name implies that it was fast, easy, and does not have a lot of extra schtuff on the card.  You like that word "Schtuff" me too.  When crafting with friends we often sit around and our conversations seem to have their own crafty language.  To an outsider this sounds odd but trust me when a word like schtuff is tossed out we all know what it is..  So this card came to me as I was having a much needed weekly craft day with Heather Ferguson over at SuperFox Designs. Truly a great Crafty BFF to bounce ideas off of and provide oodles of inspiration, I admit to a bit of a "Crafty Girl Crush" on her..

Card Recipe:
Tim Holtz Crazy Cat stamped and die cut on white
Lawn Fawn "On The Mend" little bugs (cooties) stamped and die cut then colored in red copic
Sentiment also from Lawn Fawn On the Mend set
Grey layer die cut using My Favorite Things Wonky Dies courtesy of Heather Ferguson over at SuperFox Designs
